Around the Moon in 80 Blinks is the twenty-third episode of Season 4 of I Dream of Jeannie, and the 110th overall episode of the series. The episode, which was written by James Henerson and directed by Claudio Guzmán, first aired on NBC-TV on 24 March 1969.
Summary[]
Jeannie has a cold and passes it on to Tony by kissing him passionately just before he blasts off. She tells Tony to say hello to the man in the moon. Jeannie accidentally blinks down Commander Wingate from their capsule orbiting the moon instead of Tony. She tries again and gets Tony. Roger is left to orbit the moon alone until Jeannie comes to his aid, though she proves to be more of a hindrance than a help, sending the orbiter towards Mars. Tony has a job pacifying Wingate and keeping Mrs. Bellows from trying to convince her husband that he is not in space.
Eventually, Jeannie blinks Tony, Roger, Wingate, and herself into the capsule.
Trivia[]
- Unusually, it's Mrs Bellows rather than her husband who tries to convince everyone of what she saw.
- The first moon landing took place 20 July 1969, a few months after this episode aired. However, the mission was Apollo 11 rather than Apollo 14, the third moon landing.
