Jeannie at the Piano is the first episode of Season 5 of I Dream of Jeannie, and the 114th overall episode of the series. The episode, which was written by James Henerson and directed by Hal Cooper, first aired on NBC-TV on 16 September 1969.

Summary[]

Jeannie casts a spell on the piano in the Cocoa Beach officer's club, making Tony appear to be a musical virtuoso when he sits down to play. Amazed by Tony's talent, General Schaeffer books the astronaut on a nationwide concert tour. Trouble is, it's the piano and not Tony that is issuing forth the beautiful music. When Tony shows up to play at the club, Dr. Bellows informs a stunned Tony that the original piano has been replaced with a grand piano. Jeannie miniaturizes herself and the enchanted piano, but are closed into Dr. Bellows' filing cabinet. She blinks the whole cabinet on to the stage in New York so that Tony can let Jeannie and the miniaturized piano out. However, Tony accidentally sets off the timer to blow up the piano. As a finale, Tony plays the "Minute Waltz" but in thirty-three seconds!

Trivia[]

  • The sound coming from the piano is that of a grand piano, rather than the type Tony "plays" initially.
  • Incidentally, the "Minute Waltz" normally lasts between one and a half to two and a half minutes.
  • Tony mentions the footballer, O.J. Simpson, who was a running back for Buffalo Bills in the NFL at the time.
