The Greatest Entertainer in the World is the twenty-third episode of Season 2 of I Dream of Jeannie, and the 53rd overall episode of the series. Directed by Claudio Guzmán and written by series creator Sidney Sheldon, it first aired 27 February 1967 on NBC.
Summary[]
Jeannie is determined to get Tony on the entertainment committee for General Peterson's tenth anniversary celebration party. Tony believes that Miami is the place to find plenty of stars, and selects Rat Pack member Sammy Davis Jr. as the one to ask. Unfortunately, Roger spills the beans to Dr. Bellows, who admits that Sammy is the General's favorite entertainer. The bad news is that Sammy is booked for two shows a night, unable to be in two places at once, until Jeannie interferes. Sammy rehearses "Girl from Ipanema" in his hotel room in Miami. The duplicate Sammy belts out "That Old Black Magic" on behalf of General Peterson, who doesn't realize how close he is to the truth when he says "when you're up on that stage you do the work of two people!"
