The Richest Astronaut in the Whole Wide World is the seventeenth episode of Season 1 of I Dream of Jeannie. Co-written by Sidney Sheldon and William Davenport and directed by E.W. Swackhamer, it first aired 15 January 1966 on NBC.

Summary[]

Roger accidentally discovers that Jeannie is a genie and steals her bottle. Overwhelmed with the power at his disposal, he takes advantage of her magical abilities.

After making him extremely wealthy, even supplying him with an expensive home with a both a French and Italian maid, it's up to Tony and Jeannie to get him out a very sticky situation which could jeopardize his military career when NASA has him arrested on suspicion of selling government secrets to foreign countries, when General Peterson and Dr. Bellows both wonder how an astronaut on a Army officer's salary could afford all the spoils of a wealthy millionaire playboy.

  • This is the first episode in which Tony tells Jeannie he loves her.

Goofs[]

  • When Jeannie pours water on Roger to wake him from fainting, the water spots on his suit and on the floor disappear when he faints again.
  • When Dr. Bellows creeps into Roger's office, he closes the door, but when the shot changes, it's open.
  • In the final scene, when Tony is telling Roger that Jeannie can change time, his hands are at his side, but a second later, they're holding Jeannie's hands.
